Did you know that Veterans Day occurs on November 11th every year in the United States? It honors all veterans for their service.
Originally known as Armistice Day, which commemorated the end of World War I. In 1919, President Wilson initialized the first commemoration of Armistice Day on November 11th and in 1938 it became a National Holiday. In 1954 President Dwight D. Eisenhower changed the name from Armistice Day to Veterans Day. Through the years, there were some changes of when the actual day was recognized however on September 20, 1975, President Gerald Ford made it a law recognizing that Veterans Day be recognized officially on November 11th and that began in 1978.
